Nowadays, many of our mobile devices are USB-based, but those darn wall socket adapters are so easy to lose (or not have enough of). Thankfully, this fall, you can plug those USB devices straight into the wall with the $20 U-Socket.

Bad.

It probably just builds in the adapter, which is bad news if it's constantly connected to the grid. Those style adapters (and really any DC adapter that's small like that) put phantom loads on the grid when they're not in use. You can see a reduction in your power bill if you leave your chargers plugged in just by unplugging them when not in use.

Now if there is an automatic switching circuit that engages it to the grid when there's something plugged in, that's a different story. Besides that, I've never lost one of the adapters...
