Off Market apps ?

Can anyone suggest good quality 3rd party site I can go browse for Apps ?

Also, as far as I have read there is only 1 single "virus" for android, and that gets spread by text message.

Are Lookout and AVG actually necessary? I mean has any one actually been saved by either ?

WOW, GetJar... I used that for my Eternity. I had forgotten.

And my phone so broke wide open I can BT any APK from my Mac to the device and Astro will fire it up for me.
