I'm sure excited! If this thing delivers what OnePlus promises, it will be the device of the year! Here's what we know so far, all of it from intentional leaks by OnePlus:

 • Launches April 23rd
 • Will cost <$400 outright, unlocked
 • Apparently to have a sleek aluminum body

 • Stereo speakers
 • “StyleSwap” replaceable back covers

 • No front branding
 • Apparently targeted directly at the HTC One M8

Known specifications

OnePlus One - All You Need to Know | OnePlus Forums

Dimensions:
Height: 152.6 mm / 6"
Width: 75.9 mm / 3"
Thickness: 8.9 mm / 0.35"
Weight: 162 g

So, what think ye?

I am _very_ excited about this all new model.

Especially since there's multiple rumors about the Nexus 6 having a curved display, a "feature" I find repulsive. Very happy with my Nexus 5, I was planning on buying the 6 prior to learning about the display.

So far all research I've done on OnePlus has returned lots of exciting possibilities. Best of all it won't be long before we see this brand new smartphone.

With no advertising budget, OnePlus is hitting out at their competitors via their own blog and FaceBook, then relying on news outlets to dispense their message.

My take:

OnePlus One over the S5:

 • 0.4" Larger screen
 • 1GB more RAM
 • Lower f-stop camera with an extra lens element
 • Larger battery
 • Cheaper by $250-300, though that will change once the S5 comes down in price
 • A presently unknown company

S5 over the OnePlus One:

 • Latest Super AMOLED screen is apparently the best out there
 • External SD card, removable battery
 • Likely a smaller and lighter chassis
 • You can buy one just about anywhere on the planet
 • A known reliable company

Any word yet on removable storage and usb-otg?
It probably won't have removable storage, and I have no idea about USB-OTG.

wasn't the S5 water resistant.. to a few feet under water?
Yes, the S5 has an IP67 rating, but I don't care about that and don't know what, if any, rating the OnePlus One has, so it doesn't factor into my take.

kind of unfair.. and bias if you do that.. even if it does NOT matter to you.
a listed was created to compare and posted it to see the realistic comparison.
then all known features should be listed.

and water resistant is NOT a minor feature.
NFC was not listed either
I wonder what else was left out?

It's not unfair. I did say "My take" and made no pretense of being unbiased.

the purpose of the comparisons is to highlight that the internals of the 1+ are on par or better than what is being offered currently at nearly half the price. since people find specs to be an important factor that's what they're focusing on.

all this to encourage people to wait and see(4/23) what 1+ brings to the table as a whole.
