Root partitioning sd card

hi, just a couple of quick questions,
1.i have had my htc desire rooted and sd card partitioned by my brother-in-law (i am not techno minded ).i am running oxygen rom at the moment ,what i wanted to know is if i flash another rom over oxygen ,will the ext partition still be valid .
2. every time i flash a rom do i need to re- flash the other zip files i.e. dalvik cache to sd? and trackball awake zip .hope i have explained ok .

1. yes the ext partition is unaffected by flashing a new rom although it is advisable to do a full memory wipe before flashing a different rom.
2. different roms tend to use different methods for a2sd so yes it is sometimes required to redo whatever steps are required for a2sd.
