Phone re-locked itself when dropped

my phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace) was accidentally knocked to the ground, it didn't hit the ground too hard, I almost caught it about 2 feet off the ground but it bounced out of my hands (if only I was wearing my ball glove!), but it hit hard enough that the battery came out.

when it powered back up it is asking me for a network unlock code? I know my phone was an unlocked phone but I have been using it for months with no problems. I have taken the battery out a few times and never had this happen. Why does it need to be unlocked again?? and how do I unlock it??

I have moved this thread to the Android Lounge to see if it can get some better help.

You might just want to take the device into a local carrier store and see if they can't provide this code or offer a suggestion.
