Question to people who buy their phones unlocked

Hi !


I live in Canada, and want to get the HTC Desire HD which will be coming here soon.
but

- I don't want to buy anything from the cellular providers (I'm with rogers).
- I do not need 3G since I have wifi everywhere.


so considering all that my question is-
should I
1- buy now the current european version (that is not 3G compatible here) off ebay or pacific mall.

2- wait til it hit the stores and then buy the same EUROPEAN version off ebay or pacific mall at a lesser price (hopefully it will be less, since the canadian 3g version will be out there as well).

3- wait til it hit the stores here, buy it at full price from one of the stores in canada and spend another 20$ unlocking it. (probably the most expensive option- again, for a phone that I will not use its 3g capabilities)

and no, I see no point waiting for the duel core phones.

In making a cost comparison you should take into account resale value. In 2 years, what would a 3g incompatible phone in Canada be worth compared to the Canadian version?

either way, u might want to wait until AFTER mwc which starts next week.
there will be heaps of new mobiles announced.
