Help Random notification sound

My wife's S5 (AT&T) occasionally will sound the text message notification, but no text has arrived. This is really bugging her, thus she is bugging me. We have been unable to find any app that can be causing this. Any ideas?

No I haven't found the cause. That is why I asked about it. Now that you have posted I now know we are not alone with this issue.

Try running the phone in Safe Mode, as per #1.4 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide, to determine if the notification sound continues. If not, then it is a user app and setting that is causing the issue.

Removing the battery didn't solve the problem. Hoped it would be an easy fix. Also safe mode didn't stop it either.​

In that case it is a system app that is causing the issue. Look at your AT&T system apps.
