Help Random Restart/Shutdown Prompts

So my phone has been giving me random restart prompts for no apparent reason. It will be fine for 20-30 mins then start giving me the restart/shutdown prompt repeatedly. At first I thought it was the power button so I tried remapping it by disabling it and making the search button the power button. Same issue. I tried restoring it to stock by sbf. Same thing. Tried a different ROM, same issue. I finally got annoyed enough to just completely cut the power switch and it still happens. I'm at a loss for what could be causing it. I've already replaced it with a Galaxy S3 I got on eBay but I want to make use of my old Droid X as a desk clock/weather alert/news/media player/etc.

At this point I'm almost ready to just take a hammer to it and forget it just to ease my frustration. Anyone have any ideas?

So it's rooted (you're mentioning ROMs)?

If so, can't help much other than unroot and do the Motorola "privacy" menu factory data reset (https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/48517).

I like the hammer idea, though.

Annoyingly I tried that as well as the standard wipe data/cache after I sbf'd it back to stock.
