FYI, Living in a rural area I often look at the Received Power Meter. I have had times of good power but no digital data. The meter can help when talking to customer service for this type of issue.
The meter is now been moved and it also works differently. It is reporting my the closets two towers (2 and 4 miles away). You may see more in a area with more towers.

Settings, More, Mobile Networks, Network type and strength
The meter shows: power bars, tower vintage (1x/3G/4G), and Power in dBm
