So, I had about 2 bars of service to begin with. We have a booster where I am and i touched my htc inspire to it and had 5 bars. A moment later I had no service whatsoever. it dropped all my bars. Does anybody have an explanation for this? Thanks.

It's possible that others with the Inspire have experienced what you're reporting, so I've moved your query to that device's area for you.

I have found my Inspire's reception to be lower than my old "dumb" phone. However, the signal strength in our home has gone down markedly over the last three years on all phones as we have upgraded. Whether it's the phones, or something in the environment, I don't know. We had AT&T send us a micro-cell, and now have fantastic coverage in the house...

I was going to say that signal fluctuation is typical. The device switches between towers and since the distance, congestion, etc. is different for differing towers, the signal fluctuates.
