Restocking fee at VZW?

I plan on ordering a Fascinate online as soon as it's available because I don't want to wait weeks if I decide I want to use the phone. I don't plan on opening the box or activating the phone until I read some reviews and make sure it will do everything I want it to. Does anyone know if I would still be charged a restocking fee if I never opened or activated the phone?

Yes, so go ahead and play with it! I returned the DX and got a full refund but was charged the restocking fee on my monthly bill.

why not just wait and go to the store and play with one first? save the restocking fee

The OP, has a phone already. They can return the Fascinate outright, and there will be no restocking fee (used or unused), as long as it isn't exchanged for a different phone or another phone is purchased within 3 days of the return. Just return the Fascinate and reactivate your old phone = no restocking fee.

Call CS, and see if they will credit you on your next bill.

I don't know about Verizon stores, but at least at Best Buy stores I've been able to push back enough to get the restocking fee waived.

All the retail places I've ever worked always had a function/option/key to remove the restocking fee at the discretion of the employee/cashier dependent on the customer...
