[Release][Alpha0.6] CyanogenMod 9 Touchpad - RootzWiki

Alpha0.6 Release notes:

Another minor release. While working on bigger problems that will take a while I wanted to push out an update for some things that have happened in the last few days. This is primarily to get Flemmard's work out for more testing. This contains the start of CyanogenMod settings. However, most of the settings are not functional on tablets yet.

With this release I will also provide two flashable zips to allow you to easily switch between lcd density 120 and 160. The default is still 160 because it offers the greatest compatibility. Any lcd density value between 160 and 120 will ruin market compatibility. For those that would like a "higher resolution" look and feel, you may flash the 120 lcd density update.zip. This will copy a new build.prop and will update the launcher for proper display. I strongly recommend changing the font size in Settings->System->Fonts if you chose to do this. The 160 lcd density update is provided to easily revert the change.

  • Touchscreen fixes
  • Ability to hide the combined bar(navigation buttons and clock) for full screen. This uses the ICS api so it will require app support(not all apps have been updated). This is an option under Settings->[Interface]->System->Combined Bar (Credits to Flemmard)
  • Scrollable quick settings. This will require tweaking later to allow it to be bigger on the Touchpad but fixes overflow issue on 7" tablets with the new Bluetooth toggle. (Credits to Flemmard)
  • Reboot to recovery is working via the power menu(hold down power button). Note: reboot will sometimes shutdown rather than rebooting.
  • Preliminary support for Rom Manager. In order to use this you will need Rom Manager Premium because it is not official yet. In order to use it you will need to execute "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" in Rom Manager. Confirm the model is cm_tenderloin, say yes that you have installed manually, and check ClockworkMod 3.x. Now you can use Rom Manager to flash update.zips. Official support should come soon.
  • Other general changes from syncing with latest changes

So if you are upgrading from .5 to .6 would the best method be to use ACMEInstaller2?

novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2

Since I already have the GoogleApps installed and working, would I need to reinstall them after the upgrade?

Thanks
Jason

Copy the ZIP file into the root directory of your "SD Card".
Reboot the TP into Clockwork Recovery
Install Zip from SD Card
Select the file
Install

I then cleared Cache and Dalvik Cache and then rebooted into CM9.

If you simply update the existing installation you do not need to re-install GAPPS.

Anyone else getting a pop-up box: Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped.

Ok, I found a fix over at rootzwiki.

go to /system/app/

If you see:
- Galaxy4.apk
- Gallery2.apk
- GalleryGoogle.apk

Delete or rename Gallery2.apk, then reboot. I verified it worked.

I think that issue has been known for a while. I still see it now and again on my TP... though in my case I've also got the SuperUser bug. If I run SuperUser and try to add an app like Astro to it, SuperUser FC's. The workaround for it is supposedly to remove the SuperUser APK file from the ZIP before installing and then just install SuperUser from the Market.

Since I have no interest, at the moment, to format /system and reload CM9 without that silly SuperUser APK file, I think I'm simply going to ignore it for a while...

I updated Bricked to 0.6, then updated to latest Bricked kernel again. The only issue I've noticed (besides the occasional reboots when sleeping that I've had in all builds) is a problem with the calendars not syncing. I didn't update gApps with 0.6, but you're not supposed to have to.

EDIT: reinstalling gApps & fixer cleared that up. :D

I upgraded from .5 to .6 and my Calendar was not working either. No Sync option under Google. I took your advice and reinstalled and now have my Calender back, thanks Colchiro!

I like Alpha .6. Only real complaints are:

- density 160 is too big, 120 too small

- touch sensitivity isn't quite right - my thumbs frequently don't register and hitting things without triggering the drag function is difficult. The precision tapping thing is actually quite frustrating especially when browsing the web since hitting links is tough without moving the page.

- keyboard is too big

Much nicer than Gingerbread though!

Depends how you use the keyboard. I can touch-type perfectly with a computer keyboard, but hunt and peck with a touch screen, probably b/c I don't text and didn't develop the thumb concept. I got the thumb keyboard for free from Amazon's app of the day, but still prefer the Swiftkey X b/c of the suggestions.

Swiftkey also has a thumbkey layout:
