Root for Huawei Ascend Y H866C

It's not very difficult.

Go to the previous page (page 4). Download the Poot posted by that guy that I still need to send a donation to (I promise I will, I have to wait until the first of Feb. when I have money).

1. Save Poot to the SD card.
2. Download and install SuperUser (or SuperUser Elite if you want, but it's not necessary to pay for SU Elite).
3. Run Poot. It will need to download Ministro II. Accept the download and just let Ministro II download/install.
4. Let Ministro II install the QT packages it needs.
5. If you want, Reboot the phone (press and hold power button, select restart), but I don't think it's necessary.
6. Run Poot again, it will give you a success or failure message. If you did everything right, it will give you a success.

SuperUser or SuperUser Elite is necessary just for the root. I don't know about ClockWorkMod other than that CWM does NOT (the last time I checked) have a mod that supports Huawei H866c. Now if you do get a mod on there, you don't need SU or SU Elite (most of the time).

Now I followed the above exactly and it appears to have worked. Here is what my screen looked like once done.

I tried to rotate the pics but could not do it had to retake. if its really necessary ill rotate them for ya.

Hope this helps others in know that it does work. Now all we need if someone is willing to assist in making a stock recovery so we can go back to stock and make partitions for more space for more apps. Anyone out there can assist the H866C community please?

Here it is to prove that root has been obtained and achieved using the poot method.

Hope someone can help us with partitioning for more space and recovery for stock flashing. Thanks guys.

K now i Downloaded ES file app and went to the location to remove some apps and i always get the -app connot be deleted- message?? do i have to re mount the premissions?

The screen flashes for a second, then it turns blue. Do I manually turn it off? Do I wait for it to reboot?

Hi daniel.. did you achive root with the device like me? if so.. are you trying to go back to stock ? if you are.. may i please know why? also where are you in the process?

I have managed to remove a lot of the bloatware on the phone without bricking it. I did remove the play store and finally achived in reinstalling it again today. worked on it for 2 freaking days lol. it even holds less spave that the original 14 mb . its now a solid 5 mb which is nice. still cant move it to the sd card. I did have it there but it would fail everytime i would run it. Needs to be on the system :(. anyways i have going about 122mb in the internal and have added about 20 apps into my phone. and i still have about 100mb left to go.

also a side note that i have experienced with my phone is that most of the stuff when dealing with deleting or making changes to the phone you.. its best to alway have usb debuggin on at all times as well as unchecking quick turn on. also i have noticed that i cannot get into the system reboot without it being connected to the computer. Thats just me tho.. might change with every operson or phone. Also you have to wait till the Huawei Ascend logo appears and just wait and wait till the android guy comes out with the box.

Hope this helps.

I'm fairly new to the android scene but have become very interested quite quickly once I started to learn more. I have managed to root my phone & get rid of google+, google maps, etc. I actually even uninstalled Google Play at one time & managed to get a version I found on KAT to load off of sd card with no problems so far, but still quite small internal memory. I read in my research about possibly being able to "trick" the phone into thinking the sd card were part of internal memory, is this real? Using Root All To SD I've managed to create and mount a 512mb external SD memory but can't get anything to move to it. Still never seems like I can get internal memory above 30. Any suggestions on how I could better unlock my phone to it's full potential?

currently im waiting and see if giantpune or sketch will read the posts and see if they are willing to help a bit. I have heard of the partitioning as well but have not seen it done or confirmed. Just installed ROM manager but i can even back up my current ROM cus it asked to install CWM recovery.. however when the phone models come up.. h866c does not show.. which means its not supported!

only thing that shows up is ascend 2 M865.

If there is anyone out there that can help me out personally it would be greatly appreciated. We can maybe even talk donating some money for the service if thats what it will take. Please PM me fellas! currently im trying to remove all wallpapers and the fmradio but have failed for 3 days now.

Damn man, that is completely unfortunate. as far as i know there is no CWM out there that is made for the ascend y h866c. which is probably why it got bricked. from what i have been informed by reputable sources is that even if its slightly different it will break the phone.

now i have heard of this pink screen a lot but i have never seen it myself. I do get to the screen where the android guy is and the exclamation is showing but its never pink. as off now i think things are dismall for this but hope is always there. I will update if other things come up or if i find a willing person to fix our problem.

I posted questions on a couple sites & on one I got this is return:

Apps/scripts such as A2SD and Link2SD would work for you to accomplish that, however, I believe you'd have to have a custom recovery, as A2SD is a script that must be flashed from recovery, and while Link2SD doesn't need to be flashed, both require you to also partition the SD card and use one of the partitions for app storage. You might be able to use Link2SD without recovery though, if you partition your SD card on a PC.

As a matter of fact, I just found a guide that will probably get you through with little or no fuss:

http://www.noypigeeks.com/android/tutorial-a-guide-to-link2sd/

from BlastGT1 at UnleashedPrePaids

I've gotten a second partition made but still am having some trouble with linking apps to it. Hope this helps us on our journey somehow.

I tried this method but it bricked my sd card and my card reader. Still not sure why but i will have a look and get back with ya. It did do what it said it would and it seemed to have put information on that partions but it still did not move it all as expected.

When i went back to delete everything back so that i can put it back to the way i had it before it just bricked??!! when i inserted the card it said .. damaged sd card.

then my card reader wont read any cards i insert in it .. so not sure if it was the sd card reader that did it or the software . need to get a new card reader and ill report back.

That is terrible, I just used that tut and everything went smooth for me. Keep me posted on the news. I can't think of what would have bricked your card at all, that's strange. Good luck with getting it all back on track.

I have been searching for three weeks and have tried just about everything. All rooting methods want you to root by installing a custom rom, which requires a custom recovery like clockwork mod, which cant be installed without rooting first. ITS A DAMN CONUNDRUM!! I chose this phone because i needed verizon service without $110 a month but i am not poor by any means. So here it is , I'm offerring to pay a bounty for all of us. I WILL PAY $100 TO ANYONE WHO CAN GIVE ME A WORKING ROOT METHOD FOR THIS PHONE, AND SHOW ME VIDEO EVIDENCE OF IT RUNNING SUPERUSER PERMISSIONS.
Please help me too.

From what I can tell the fastboot mode on the H866C is the opposite of the Ascend II - hold the volume UP key while holding the power button at startup. The Huawei Ascend logo will appear and the unit with vibrate - continue to hold for another 15 sec or so. Just keep it pressed until the splash screen with the little android dude hopping out of the box appears. It then switches to another graphic of our little green friend and the caution symbol (exclamation mark inside of a triangle) and the android system recovery dialog appears. Is this the same as fastboot? somehow I think not, but there are options to apply update from SD card. Granted being an uber-noob to android I might simply be stating the obvious.
Not to me. I'm going to give er. Hell hope it works for me

does anyone know how i go about rootin my huawei ascend y m866? i started out to root the thing two weeks and still in the same boatcan anyone help !!!!

what are you stuck on? the root process should be rather straight foward. but be sure you have room to download the needed libraries

I followed the instructions to a T and still not rooted. I did a hard reset twice and tried to do it again without no success.

I keep getting patching failed.
su binary was not written

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! I want to get rid of bloatware

This is a very informative and detailed thread. Buy after reading it, it seems that the basic problem of constant low memory messages will not be substantially fixed by rooting. The problem is in the basic design of the phone. It is low priced and does not have enough internal memory. The SD card is nearly empty - but even moving allowed aps to the card does not make much difference. I hate to pony up for a more expensive phone - but that seems the only option. Does anyone have any low cost options for phones on the Straight Talk system? Thanks

the low app storage can be fixed by partitioning the sdcard and using links2sd from the play store. download minitool from cnet.com to partition the sdcard. more info can be found by googling links2sd

here are some quick stats on my phone:
Internal(16% free, Total:165MB Used:138MB Free:26.57MB)
Sdcard 2nd Partition(45% Free Total:0.89GB Used:351MB Free:504MB)
System (6%free Total:186MB Used:174MB Free:12.22)

I have removed the stock launcher and placed "Smart Launcher" in it's place, which helped A LOT.

I placed updated system apps back into the system partition, I deleted the useless apps from the system too.

the only apps that really sit on my internal storage are apps with widget functions that i want to use, or apps that i want as "fast as possible" loading speeds.

The biggest issue with this phone is the ram available to it(effectively 128MB). The processor is Okay, but the ram is too little for it to run efficiently, and since there are no custom kernels and there for no custom roms, we can't even make swap partitions :/

as happy as I can be with a cheap android, if you use it strictly as a low end android and keep that in mind, it's not TOO bad... but when you start running apps like facebook(sucks on any phone you run it with :p), tango, or skype... then you feel it :/

Is there any way to update the version of the Android operating system? I want to run Android bot maker but it requires version like 4.1 or 4.2
