Root Rooting Froyo on DX

The 2nd post in this thread works as well, it is just a bat file so you don't need to manually adb all the files over.

I just killed the adb server again adn did the adb shell and am still getting the $ instead of getting the #. I think I am going to hard reset my phone and start from scratch to see if I can get this to work.

if you want to be rooted then for now I wouldnt suggest taking the OTA. If you do there is no safety net for a bootloop because sbf files wont work. The only thhing in the ota that we dont have yet is a new baseband

I told my wife to just sit tight. We've waited this long, and another few hours or day or two won't kill us. Just knowing the final was finally released sets out minds at ease. We were starting to think either moto or Verizon were going to just kill the froyo release completely because of the huge delay.

Had to do this:

ok do the following

exit
adb kill-server
adb devices
adb shell
You should now see a # instead of a $

If you dont you will need to go back to step 9 and try again.

But it worked fine after that.

There isnt an exploit that will work with a 1 click app. So there really isnt an app coming anytime soon.

This program for the computer will automate the process

Awesome. I got it working using the Droid-Life article...I just had to install a few Motorola drivers instead of the one they suggested.

I installed the driver droid-life suggested and this driver:

Once I did that...rebooted..and finished the Droid-Life step by step
