Rooting + getting new microSD card

I did a search and couldn't find anything on this...

I am still using the stock 2GB microSD card, and looking to root. Can I root with my current card (which has 650MB-ish available), and after rooting just purchase a new card and swap it out. Or would it be more advantageous to purchase the new SD card prior to rooting?

Thanks.

I would suggest getting a new sd card before root, others may chime in but doing a nandroid, backing up a rom and if you want apps 2 sd, you're doing alot on 650 mb memory. I could be wrong but that's my 2 cents:)

I agree with Andy, but I have a suggestion. You can move some of your stuff off to a folder on a computer for safe keeping while you root and make a nandroid backup, then, when you get a bigger SD card, you can move everything back.

Why wait to enjoy Root?
