SD Card Issues

I have a Galaxy S III. I keep getting this message "blank SD card - sd card is blank or has unsupported files" When I click on the message I get "all data on your card will be lost" then my options are "Format" or "Cancel". If I format what could I be loosing??

Hi

If you format it you will wipe everything on it. If it's a new one you need to format it before use.
