Sending/Receiving Txt on 1X network?

Hey all,

I work in the hospital and I'm constantly on 1X. There is no 3G reception.

I was just wondering if it would be possible to send and receive text messages (NOT MMS) when I'm on the slower network? Btw, I am on VZW. I am asking because I'm deciding whether or not to add a txt plan since I need to communicate with my team while working.

you should be just fine with plain texting, maybe even better than the calls. my husband texts me all the time when he only has 1x service. he works in a hospital too. the only time you will have problems is if you are in an area of the hospital where even 1x doesn't reach.

Texts natively send on the 1x network anyway, so you are fine. Some phone's will actually show this, when you send a text, the 3g icon will change to a 1x icon for a few seconds while the text sends.
