If that is happening regularly, and if outside factors are not playing a part (leaving it in the sun, etc), it's in need of examination by somebody who can find the cause and then decide what to do about it.
I'd start by doing a "force stop" on the newest apps I have, if it were not happening since I got the phone. You may be able to isolate an app that is causing the cpu to keep running, etc.
If not, just take it in and let the Verizon techs have a look at it.
