Standard browser much slower than Opera Mini beta. Is this normal?

I'm finding that the standard browser is way slower when navigating than the Opera Mini beta.

Same thing over wifi and mobile. We're talking about 30 seconds in standard browser compared to about 1 second in Opera.

    What's that about?

Is everybody else finding the same thing? It's annoying that Opera isn't quite as complete as standard browser, coz otherwise I'd just use it all the time.

I have tried Opera Chrome and Dolphin, I prefer the built in browser, they all have advantages over the other, however the built in one works generally better for me.

Even on a fairly weak data signal, mine loads up a page in about <20 seconds

And do you find Opera quicker than standard browser?

Also, I didn't know that Chrome was available for Android?!? Is that Google Chrome?

Opera Mini I agree is fast.

I have tried the Dolphin browser but it's just as slow as the built in browser.

I will be using Opera until the Android OS update and then the new Firefox Fennec android version will likely be out.

Opera is the fastest of all the browsers thanks to its intelligent caching.

    Pages load in seconds.

I use Opera as my primary whereas before I was using Dolphin.

Standard browser is slow and the UI is not great.

I thought Opera was a bit odd to start with, but now I know where everything is, I'm loving it.

It just needs a few additions like auto-complete, remember passwords, etc.

Plus for some reason, I just can't get into webmail for my work exchange server, which I think is something to do with the fact that our exchange server currently has an invalid certificate on it. Strangely, standard browser don't seem to mind.

BTW, that's not really your photo is it?

Hey, who you callin' a geek?!?!? :p

...and yes the lack of total control over zoom can be annoying sometimes, but nicer other times.

    This: Opera Mini Features
Opera uses it's own servers to compress the stuff on web pages before sending them into your browser. Works really well, but some pages don't like it.

Also bouncing through that server triggers a security alert in face book

I used Dolphin, Steel, and the standard browser and i ended up sticking with the standard browser. It loads everything pretty much exactly like firefox does on a computer, has pinch zoom, UI is just great. Dolphin is more bulky but is similar to the standard browser. Steel is faster than both but doesnt load everything like firefox does on a computer. I ended up giving up a little speed for computer browsing similarity.
