Help Tech newbie - NFC service not available

I don't know much about Android phones and neither does my dad.

Recently he has been receiving a message that says "Unfortunately, Nfc Service has stopped." constantly.
When he presses "OK", it disappears and then immediately comes back up.
Neither of us are sure what this means and would be grateful if anybody could offer some help.

I have only used it a few times to set up a new device from a old one. Other than that, I keep it turned off.

To eliminate the message, you might can do a cache wipe in recovery to get the process working properly or look for it in Settings and turn it off if not needed.
