As the anticipation grows, I feel as if my stamina is weakening and I'm starting to question whether or not I should still get the N1 (VZW).

It has to be the nerves, because about a week ago I thought for sure that I was going to buy the N1 when (and if) it comes out on March 23rd...but is it worth it? Should I wait a while?

My 2 year contract with Verizon ends in July, but there is no way I can wait that long. And besides, I am eligible for an early upgrade:D

What are your opinions on this matter?

Is it really a phone worth having?

    Should I wait?

*Mind you, I have never owned a smartphone so this will be my first! I am so sick and tired of my now boring LG Dare!

    Thank you in advance,

    Miranda

i would recommend you trying out some smartphones out there. ask a friend or coworker to try out their smartphone. ask what features they like and dislike. Or just ask if you can play with it in your hands for a few seconds. compare it to the iphone 3gs. In the end it's a matter of how well the phone suits your needs.

march 23 is just 2 weeks from now. I bought the nexus 2 hours after it was released. well why dont you ask yourself, if you couldnt get the nexus one, what other phone would you get on Verizon?

I am in the same boat and have played with both the Droid and the N1. I hate the form factor of the Droid and it wasnt as responsive as the N1. The N1 looks big in pictures but it is actually really slim and the screen is beautiful. Is 14 days really that long of a wait? Been eligible for a new phone since Nov.

I've played around with many a smartphone, just never owned one =P

There is really no other phone out there that I like for Verizon and me being me, if Android 2.1 is out there, why go a step below when I can have the better phone?

    Thank you for your advice!:D

I would say go for the phone. I've had mine for 9 days so far and I love it. *stock; not rooted*. Everything works as advertised and I get a lot of oohs and ahhs whenever someone notices it. The phone itself is a joy to hold with the right size and weight. I played with the Droid but I hated the keyboard; it was cramped and not offset. Mind you I've owned 2 smartphones prior to the Nexus: Nokia n95 and Samsung Moment. The Android platform itself is relatively easy to use *for me at least* as there is a small learning curve.

Put it this way, until the HD2 comes out......

The Nexus One is the most powerful phone on the market.

your so wrong the only difference in power is the memory lol. same everything except winmo which the 1 gig proccessor should help with but windows is laggy on its own therefore making the 1 gig processor not even matter lol. and its not upgradeable due to button placement and not having any sort of a decent graphincs engine for winpho7 . have fun sir.

I'm also interested in the N1, waiting for Verizon to get it. The only problem is that I upgraded to the Droid on launch day...

Perhaps I'll have to shell out $500 or whatever it'll cost. Decisions, decisions.

You can probably flip your Droid on Ebay or Craigslist for a decent buck. That might help with the no upgrade thing... I've been saving my NE2 for something special to come to VZW, I'm hoping thats the N1.

The anticipation is starting to fry my nerves too. I am getting really annoyed with my Storm, even more so now with the wait! I hope there are more details to emerge soon on the VZW release!

    Agreed it sucks waiting...

Lets not forget who knows how they will sell it. In stores, or not and could have personal account restrictions like t-mobile...

All in better to wait, and maybe even wait to see what the incredible will be as well.
