George Hotz's of Comma.ai is giving away software which will enable semiautonomous driving features for specific vehicles. The software will work on the 2016 Honda Civic Touring and 2016 Acura ILX with the AcuraWatch Plus package in conjunction with custom-built hardware and a OnePlus 3 smartphone. While Holtz was originally planning to sell the hardware package, giving the software away appears to be the only viable option at the moment to circumvent the current regulatory system.
