Reason for asking: Coming from original Motorola Droid - which Motorola itself recommended not using a screen protector at all, due to the type of screen it was (needing the electrical current touch from your finger for best results).

Anyone know if this type of screen on the Thunderbolt is like the screen on the Moto Droid where you really shouldn't use a screen protector for best touch results, or does it not matter on this type of screen? Users who got their T-bolt today and already put screen protector on please chime in...

My T-bolt will arrive Fed-Ex tomorrow by 3pm! Ordered online via Verizon Wireless since it's only $199 online instead of $249 in the local stores...can't wait!

Ok I admit it, I was talked into buying a screen protector today at the Verizon Store. I was sold the phone for $199 (seems like most people were according to my thread on it). Screen protectors were $11.99 - my 25% off.

It works great with the protector on it. I would recommend getting it just to be safe.

Saw a display yesterday that had 2 scratches on the screen. Maybe someone
was testing it, but whatever they used scratched it good so probably a good
idea to get some extra protection. This is not Gorilla Glass is it?

Because the girl at the store wouldn't shut up about a case, I told her that I'd buy verizon's screen protector if she left me alone. I have tried Verizon's before (DX), and didn't like them, but these were different... different material maybe. And unlike the ones I got for the DX, this pack included a squeegee and microfibre cloth. They are clear and feel good under the finger. I don't even know it is there. Not bad for 3 for 10 bucks.

No, this isn't Gorilla glass to answer the previous post.

I bought the Steinhell ultra clear series and its awesome. Cant even tell its on there. and is just as smooth as the glass. Not like the zag ones that are sticky and your finger doesnt glide on the screen like it should. Told the guys at best buy that they were junk when they tried to sell me one.

Those of you that like the anti-glare anti-fingerprint screen protectors (like me) look no further than Boxwave's offering. I've tried Steinheil and Seidio's anti-glare and both are too cloudy. With Boxwave you can tell you have a protector on but it's far more transparent than anything I've seen, it feels great under your finger, and your screen won't be plagued with finger smudges.

I bought the screen protectors too, and they even put one on for me. The only problem is that when I got home I saw that she put it on VERY crooked, lol. I'm gonna have to do it myself I guess.

No one to advocate going naked? I used the VZW protector for about four months before I got fed up. My Eris has been naked for more than a year and I wouldn't do it any other way. It is true, that I have a 2mm-long scratch off in the corner that I can sometimes see when I look at the right angle. But, every screen protector I've ever seen that is more than a few months old has been scratched, dirty and nasty. Maybe the phone is better protected and the resale value is higher, but the day-to-day user experience is significantly less pleasant, IMHO. The screen is much more resistant to damage than any protector.

I'm currently using the steinheil crystal clear and can't even tell its on my phone. When it gets to scuffed up I throw it away and put on another one. I'd rather waste 7 bucks every few months then see permanent scratches every day.

When I got my TB in the VZE corp store today they tried to sell me a $15 protector. I used leather slip/pouch case on my BB Storm and not a scratch - had a protector 1st year that got nasty. When she tried to sell me the VZW one, I suspected there might be better ones. I'll get another leather slip/pouch (pocket - not clip) for TB but I'd certainly appreciate more feedback about screen protector manufacturers. T.I.A.

I got the verizon screen protector on. The girl installed it for me too. I really dont like the Zagg screen protectors. They ruin the feel of the touch screen, the fingers stick on them and the last time I had one on the phone it was a waste I threw it away, because I couldn't stand how my fingers would get stuck on the screen while I would swipe my finger across the screen.

The verizon screen protector the girl installed has been perfect, it doesn't even feel like its there.

I bought a pack for my X from VZW and they were the anti-glare. HORRIBLE! It made the screen totally grainy.

I use the cheapy static screen guards you get off of eBay, like $3 for a pack of three or four. They do the job just fine and I actually like the feel of them.

I tried a screen protector on my OG droid when I first got it, and I am SUPER anal about how my phone looks. If there is a bubble, dust, scratch, loose corner, ANYTHING its gone. I went through a couple in the 1st week and said screw it. Took it off. After a year of use I had one very very small surface scratch only visible from an angle. I am assuming its from pocket sand. I was going to go naked again with the TB, but after a TON of reading I ordered 2 of the crystal steinheil protectors. From what I have seen they are completely invisible and you can not tell they are on there. Fingers crossed they work as others proclaim. I really dont want any dings in my giant screen if I have to keep it for 2 years.

Stienhill Ultra Fine. I always protect my screens. Can't stand scratches on the glass.

Just ordered a Zagg. Been a loyal customer with them for a while and they've always worked good for me. Putting them on is like surgery though...

I hate screen protectors... do they really do anything? I know they get dirty after a while.

I've never had a screen protector or case on my Eris and there are no imperfections to the screen or body. I only put the phone in my pocket when NOTHING else is in there. Sounds simple, but that's where your phone gets the most damage. I think I've dropped it once or twice in over a year.

I won't be putting a screen protector, or case, on the Thunderbolt.

Steinheil Anti-Glare is awful. So cloudy. Rainbow effect. and their customer service sucks too. I sent them pictures of how bad it is and they won't give a refund or exchange. Looks like I'll try Boxwave's

I bought soem cheap ones from Ebay for like $3...the clear kind. Very easy to install (because they are small) and not one bubble. I cant even tell it is there. Touch screen is still super sensitive. Now I dont worry so much about throwing the phone in the book bag or in my coat pocket. Easy, cheap, investment to keep the screen mint.

I carried a TB for a month. I have never had a screen protector before (after a year my DINC had no scratches at all - though I often forgot and stuck in in my pocket w/ my keys).

After a month the TB had three very small scratches - gorila glass or not, I'm convinced the DINC glass was better
