Root Transferring APPS & Removing updates to OS

Hi I'm Bill and new to the forum and I am looking for help in transferring to a replacement Droid. In hopes of transferring my apps I installed Titanium Backup, then a system update I found on the forum to allow it to root, which it did not.
I would like to back up my Droid, then remove all changes to the OS b4 returning. If anyone has some quick steps and directions for me I would appreciate it. I am new to this whole idea of rooting.
