Unlocking former Verison, going to Straight Talk?

Hi folks, a friend has a Motorola Droid 2 that had been on a Verison plan. He wants to move it to Straight Talk. Can that be done? and how?
Right now, when you turn it on, it asks for activation. Nothing else comes up.
Please help!?

curious about this same sort of thing, I'd like to just use this phone for apps/games with no carrier activation, can it be done?

I got my DROID 2 Global (A956) Verizon unlocked simply by getting a key from one of them ebaysellers with good reviews and guarantee (but that was only $8 anyway)

I had that showing as well, but there's a way around it by tapping the edges of the screen in a special order, let me see where it was again...
..simply google "How to bypass the activation screen on the Motorola Droid 2 Global" and a youtube vid will show you how.

From there I used the unlock key I bought.
