How can I update my android system on my HTC EVO 4G? I think I have 2.1 and I want something newer.
hello and welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
are you rooted? if you are do not accept the update. it could brink your phone or unroot you with no way to re-root as of yet. all you would have to do is flash a stock rooted ota rom and you are good to go. but if you are not, then you can just go to settings/system updates/software updates.
I have no idea what you just said to me..lol. What is rooted and how do I find out of I am or not?
lol if you do not know then you are not. unless you got it on ebay or something like that. but you can just update your phone by doing the software update.
Ok thanks, we bought the phone brand new. I was just messing around and found that i'm running 2.3.3 is this the new one?
yep that is the gingerbread version. however, check the software version. the most current is 4.24.651.1. there was the gingerbread ota 4.22.651.2 and then they(htc) did a maintenance update i few weeks later and that was 4.24.651.1
Ok im updated there too. Anything else you recommend? Thanks for all your help. I really want to use my phone to its full potential.
