Root [Virgin Mobile] Forcing Galaxy S3 into LTE only mode???

Is there any way to force our phone into an LTE only mode? My phone is consistently dropping 4g connection in favor of 3g and I want to be able to use the 4g for video chats. I have root access of course.

Go to Menu> Settings> More Settings > Wireless & Networks > Network Mode and choose LTE/CDMA. If it goes back to 3G it means that you're not receiving good 4G coverage, in that case all you can do is try to get into a stronger 4G area or call up your carrier and complain.

It's probably just better coverage for 3g, in which case you might drop frequently

I've noticed on mine if you keep an active connection after turning data off then back on it will stay on 4g. But as soon as the connection goes idle it drops to 3g.

Are you guys on stock? Do you have connection optimizer disabled?

I am on punkmaxx's first Slim and Stock-ish ROM release, so basically stock. And I have the connection optimizer disabled. Would it be better to have the connection optimizer on or off?

Also, I should mention that coverage where I'm having problems is weak. I have been able to hold a 3g signal the majority of time in the past on my motorola tirumph. I would notice the phone switch to 1x maybe once a day. I've never seen my GS3 drop to 1x which is good, but I don't like the fact that it spends most of its time on 3g and not 4g.

Hmm, it seems that nobody has actually answered the OPs question. Here:

It is possible to enable LTE Only mode on your phone, but you will not be able to make or receive calls. Also, you will need your MSL number, which is not easy to obtain. The only way I was able to get it was by contacting Customer Support.

Once you have your MSL, open up the Dialer and dial ##data# (or ##3282#). Tap Edit, enter your MSL, tap Others, tap HDR/1X Selection, tap LTE Only Mode and then finally tap OK.
