I can confirm it works for stock rooted without needing to do all that.
Plus it looks like we get the bonus of the VM boot sound removal too :)

'Preciate this man. Never got a chance to see the update notification, which would've drove me nuts being rooted and all. Just finished re-rooting all everything is all good.

The baseband was not changed in this update even if you let the phone install it from stock... The build was changed to MG2 but my baseband is still MD7

Weird... I tried changing the baseband in the past from the CM10 thread, but it never seemed to stick since my phone kept saying MD7. I guess it finally changed over. Everything works so I can't complain; whether it's better or not, I can't really say.

Has anyone that has updated seen any changes or improvements? I'm hoping that bluetooth connects a tad better and that the kernal has been improved.

i followed the steps and it says android update successful but i did not get steps 6 and 7

when was that suppose to occur?

Tried the Odexed but boot loop of some sort 'my device just stays at the glowing samsung logo and vibrates off and on'. Restoring a nandroid now!!!

P.S. I have one of 'those' new devices that has issues with custom recoveries 'can't mount blah blah blah'. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

how am i suppose to achieve step 6 and 7?

i need root access back

I installed the update with CWM (g60madman's) and after performing steps one through five and rebooting to system, CWM prompted me to select "yes" to fix root access. I do so and the system rebooted to a rooted updated stock rom.

I rooted literally like 5 days ago via the instructions on this thread, just installed the update through the CWM provided in that "root & custom recovery" thread, and i never received any such prompt :(

Whaat? I have the recovery that came with the rooting guide and I got nothing of that sort and lost root access

Updating went smooth for me and I've already noticed a few nice system tweaks to the appearance and animations of the stock rom.
I feel so bad cause I wish I could tell you guys what I did different to not have any issues.. I do know that I have the paid version of supersu and not superuser.

Also I wanted to make note that my baseband version also updated to MG2. I remember seeing it posted that the baseband didn't update but mine did.

Weird. I followed the steps you posted and my baseband did in fact update.. ?
