Help What do you do when an app locks up?

I am going to be getting a Galaxy S6 in a week or so. Since you can no longer remove the battery how do you recover for a app that stops working and locks up the phone?

I have a video program where I watch video's and since I upgraded my Galaxy S5 to lollipop from time to time it stops working and the cancel ok screen is froze. The only way to fix this is to remove battery to reboot.

The S6 should be like other devices, hold the power button down for about 10 seconds, forces it to reboot.

I tried that with my S3 several times but the only way to reboot was to take the battery out. Did that ever work with the S3?

“If your device is unresponsive, press and hold the Power key and the Volume down key simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it.”

It just doesn't :)
I have always been able to open the app list with the button next the home button and close the error app. Or it says the app had stopped and you say okay and it's force closed.
You cannot remove the battery no. You can enable developers mode so you can always go to your device through the computer? As option?
