Wow, I feel kinda let down by waiting...Rooting seems very tempting now. Doesn't mention anything about the app drawer, screen additions, and hotspot tethering......

EDIT:See the 5 home screen thing now.

Accept no imitations!
My favorite feature (other than Flash capability)? The bright button lights GO OUT when you dim the Droid in the docking cradle. Now it's a great bedside clock!

They are adding more home screen space?

EDIT: SWEET!

It does seem a little underwhelming, but Flash will be more than enough to make me happy. Not sure I care about the homescreen enhancements though. I've been using home replacement apps for a while now. First Home++, but got sick of the bugs, and lately have been using HelixLauncher (though I still think Home++ was the best feature-wise). I've been using 7 home screens since only a month or so after I first got my droid, so going down to 5 and with less features... meh.

Hopefully, even though I didn't see direct mention of it, we'll get those fabled massive performance enhancements. Better overall performance + Flash will make it well worth updating.

Yep I feel like Im going to wait a few before I install this OTA when I get it...

good luck trying to put it off.. it will remind you endlessly and you can put it off, but it will just relentlessly come back over and over so at some point, you have to just update

which means for people like me using Launcher+ to just add additional home screens, we can ditch that app and just use the internal stock one. It's been great, but it causes some lags so it would be nice to ditch and just use the stock additional home screen system. Any apps I can ditch that mess with the system like that I am happy to.

I think I'll be sitting on the update once downloaded. Waiting to see what implications this has for rooting. Once root instructions are tested and confirmed for the phone with stock 2.2 then I'll feel better installing.

I really hope 2.2 speeds up the processer. If it doesn't, I'll root mah phone then. =o

Do I need to back up my apps, contacts, and such before I update?

As for tethering, I can live without. I don't see what's the big deal is.

I feel the same way.

Is there a way to tell if they upped the processer speed?

If it doesn't include the speed enhancements I'll be extremely disappointed. If so they only thing good will be Flash imo.

If they withhold the performance enhancements, tethering, and wifi hotspot broadcast like they're rumored to do... then the only reason for them to do that is to intentionally make the new phones look more appealing by holding back features in updates. That's downright shady. Actually directly ripping off your customer to get them to spend more money.

They're supposedly claiming that they're not doing the wifi hotspot thing because the Hardware in the Droid isn't capable of it. Only problem is that people with the 2.2 ROMs can do this on their droid... so if they claim it's hardware, then it's a blatant lie.

I'm fairly sure they bumped the processor speed to 600 mHz, plus the JIT-Dalvik compiler will make it feel a LOT faster than that. The only thing is, i've seen some folks who rooted on youtube saying that it feels slow at first but gradually picks up speed, so please dont throw a hissy fit if it isn't blazing fast right off the bat.
