Why don't I have a google settings icon?

[Android Question]

Just got a new Sony Xperia E, my first Android device. Trying to set up the device manager lock and erase facility. I'm supposed to get to the setup screen via the Google settings icon, but it does not exist. I've searched everywhere.
I also tried going to the logical place - the settings screen for the device manager app. Nothing.

Any ideas / suggestions?

OK, I found it, tucked away in a part of the apps menu I hadn't found.
