Root WirelessTether works on laptop, not netbook. need config direction

Just when I think I'm a slick son of a gun by hacking my phone and getting WT, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get my netbook to connect. I am right now tethered to my main laptop, but the netbook will just connect and not be able to load anything. I have monkeyed around with the settings for the netbook to try and get it to work on a particular wifi hotspot that was causing me trouble, and now I'm not even sure how to get back to where I was, which is what I think is giving me grief.

Any pointers? TIA
