Your favourite apps?

Can anybody tell me how one is better than the other? At the risk of sounding very 'Apple', I want something that just works. Its funny how if you search enough for app reviews you always find somebody who has bad experiences.

i think people gravitate towards things that they like.
i haven't used sms popup.

i've used handcent from day one.

the features i like most are

• the font size customization (i need messages in large fonts)
• The photos next to the persons name.
• the message count.
• the ability to change message style to chat style.
• the ease of adding attachments (sending sounds/ photos)- & mms messages
• to me there is a smooth integration with my contact list

i don't know anything about sms pop up so i can't compare.

I haven't had any problems with handcent- not even a single forcequit in 3 months
very stable app.

Voice Dialer HF/Dialer One/Missed Call - lumping them because they do sort of all go together!
Google Voice - use it for text and VM, love it!
Helix - may change to LauncherPro when the docked icons are customizable
Weather Forecast Widget (donate) - combines weather and calendar into a nice clean widget.
