My Inc Out Of Memory Geting New Replacement Phone In Few Days...

I had memory issues on my Incredible in the last 7 days. I had to do factory reset because the Low Memory and Out of Memory Space notice. Today I walked in the local store and talked to the guy about my problem, he was working on the computer and when I finished my exlanation he said: "okay, we are sending a brand new phone, since you have this memory issues, and you should receive it in few days"

Now, I saw this problem all around here and I'm sure the new phone will have the same problem soon or later. So I just wonder what they are going to do once the replacement phone will be messed up. Am I gonna get something even better phone, maybe the new Droid or what?

Let me know what ya'll think. And if you have the same problem you should do the same thing. I tried all kind of task killers and memory free up applications and nothing helped. Only the factory reset. Which will erase everything from your phone.

Ohh, I told the guy I have a Zagg Screen Protector wich cost me $20, and he said no problem we will give you another protector for your new phone.

He was really nice and helpfull. I've been with Verizon for about 7 years and never had a problem with them.

I asked him about my old Inc, if I have to return it or something, and he said he is not sure if I have to return it or I can keep it. Will see...

Why are you so sure that the new one will have the same problem? My phone has been with me since 1 day before the release, and I have never experienced this (and know several people on the same boat). It may SEEM like alot of people are having this issue but you also have to realize that it is these same people that make the threads, and that people like myself aren't going to make a thread saying "I don't have the low space notification, that is all."

FYI, I think the rep lied to you about "a few days," as you'll be lucky to get it within a few weeks.

I believe both the "out of memory" and "low memory" are referring to storage, not RAM. So Taskiller won't do anything for you. I'm assuming you've tried unistalling programs?

And this is the FIRST I've heard of this problem with the DrInc (heard of a similar problem with a different phone, but that was probably a flashing error). Are you having trouble accessing your programs?

This is a problem that creeps up and doesn't go away to my knowledge. My phone started giving me the low memory message, even when I had plenty of storage left and well under the room given for application storage. I did read something that suggested uninstalling Google Earth as it caused some sort of glitch but, I never found out if that fixed it.

The phone eventually got stuck in a boot cycle during normal use. After completely wiping the phone via boot loader menu, it did fix the memory message. Hopefully this is just another kink that Froyo will address.

If your phone is rooted (mine is), you can search for the mail.apk, click on it as though you wanted to install it, it will appear to run then give an error that the application was not installed. After that I rebooted, relaunched mail and the error was gone and has not returned in over a week. I did have to reconfigure the mail client but that was it.
Not sure this will work for everyone but it worked for me. I only tried this because I really did not want to do a hard reset and have to reload everything, this made it so I did not have to.

Exact thing happened to me. Soon I couldn't update apps, let alone add new apps regardless that I had a ton of memory and storage...and then the stuck in boot cycle happened.

I called VZW for help, the rep repeatedly bashed Android, while I was just asking for help with a factory reset, since I couldn't do it the normal way. He offered to send a new one, knowing it would likely be a refurb I wanted to try a reset first. We did that...and two weeks later I have more apps than ever and still no memory/storage errors....FINGERS CROSSED.

Interesting... I couldn't even install Google Earth - kept giving me an insufficient memory error. <shrug>

I *DID* un-install my Google Earth when I had the problem...it did nothing to get rid of the false memory/space notifications. Only the factory reset worked...so far! You sort of have to plan for a day when you do that...reloading everything...again

I had this same exact issue and they are sending me a new one. Support never mentioned clearing storage to fix my current one and Nobody offered this suggestion when I asked about the constant reboot. Mine started this as soon as I got the memory message and I tried to reboot. Mine also has the touch screen unresponsive issue as well. Should I accept the refurb or clear storage and keep my current phone?

Edit: By the way I have a tracking number where it was ordered on the 9th and I have an estimated delivery from Fedex on Monday the 12th. This is a refurb though.

I think I am LUCKY than because the phone will be here by the 13th Tuesday. Its on Fedex, I got the tracking number...

It might be a bad bach of phones. Hope the new one will be fine.

I tried all that guys and nothing helped at all. Before the last reset I don't even load most of my apps back on the phone, and it happened.

I talked with a support rep and she said most of the problems with the Incredible, and apparently the EVO too, is the Sense UI. She said she has an Incredible herself and has had the same problems and that VZW is testing 2.2 right now and that she hopes it will be released soon. She said also it should fix a lot of the problems that is if HTC has fixed the issues that are on their end. She specifically noted the unresponsive screen issue that hers had as well. I know you can't believe the tech people most of the time but since she had the same problems on her Incredible I figured she might have done some leg work to find the answer. Just sharing what I was told. YMMV

When you get your new phone, there should be a box and prepaid label for FedEx to come get it.

You will have 10 days to return it or you WILL be charged retail for the device.

As to the memory problems, you act as though they are widespread and common knowledge, but before your post, I had never heard a thing about it.

At any rate, hopefully they get you squared away and running soon. The Incredible is an amazing device. I still cant believe how impressed I have been with mine. I thought my Moto Droid was great, but it seems like a rotary dial compared to the Incredible.

Guy, last night I went to the local Verizon store. They don't have the Inc on stuck anymore! They offered me the new Droid and it looks ridiculous! I rather to keep my Inc... wait for a fix! So if you have any suggestions please let me know. I did the factory reset and I'm not downloading apps this time. Only the easy tether pro. And see what's gonna happen.

OKAY here's the fix. at least it worked for me.

settings > applications > manage applications

take a look at the list. see anything that looks freakin HUGE? like HTC mail maybe?

now remove all your mail accounts from the HTC mail app. it calls it "deleting" but the emails on the server are totally unaffected. it's just removing the account. then, you add the account back again. when i did this with my hotmail account HTC mail's size went from 85 megs to 15. and my options were set up to only save for three days, sent mail was deleted, yadda yadda.

HTC mail has a serious bug. this fixed the memory problems for me.

I found my problem to be the Mail Program. I did not realize that everytime I deleted a email it went to the Trash Folder. I went in and found I had over 2,000 emails there. I started deleting them and before I finished the Storage card is low on free space icom on the top bar went away. On the SD Card I had 6.46 GB free. I guess the HTC Email program has a limit on how much space it can use on a card, even though there is lots of free space. I will now start deleting the trash at least once a week now.

I did not have to delete the mail account and set it back up, just deleted the emails in the Trash Folder, which is what I assume the Delete Mail Account does, deletes all the emails in all the folders along with the account itself. I also cleaned out the other folders, Sent and Drafts as I take care of the Inbox daily. I assume deleting mail in the Sent and Drafts also moves them to to Trash, so clean up Trash again if you clean up the other folders after deleting from the Trash Folder.
