So I went from the DINC to the X. I gotta say. Blur is not that bad. I dont see any need right now to switch to launcher pro. After hearing so many complaints about Moto stock UI, I was skeptical. But I like it so far!
Linking contacts can sometimes be annoying between FB and GMail contacts. For the most part it works alright, but for example I have a <3 before my fiancee's name in my GMail contacts but when I link her FB profile to the GMail one it changes to her full name :/ Annoying but no deal breaker. Other than that I like Blur.Mostly blur is cool
I just hate how all my facebook contacts as well as my myspace and people following me on twitter are now all in my phone(no matter if i want them or not)
But i do appreciate the integration it does and does well for the most part
Sense is prettier, no lie about it
However Sense to me is dated & limited at the same time
I like how blur has greatly evolved from it's cliq days
I think I'll just use blur (with minor changes like Beautiful Widgets) until I see how 2.2 changes things. No sense in mucking about too much this close to release imo.
I like my Droid X, but Sense is definitely better. Motorola's interface design team needs to be replaced with some people who actually know how to design an interface.
It is not horrible, but definitely not polished and looks thrown together. Motorola should send a nice letter to HTC to ask them if they can license sense. This will resolve 2 issues: 1.) a more consistent interface which leads to benefit 2: less people whining about Android fragmentation (it's really not fragmentation, there are just a bunch of whiney babies out there who should be carrying iphones cause they need a smartphone with training wheels).
Or option number 3.....Google buys HTC and integrates all future os updates with Sense included
Shipping stock would be cool. I'd probably end up installing something like Blur or Sense just because I like them, but having the option would definitely be a perk.Wow, am I the only one who can't stand Sense? Seems like it's made for people who don't want to mess with a phone. I wouldn't mind it so much if it could be completely disabled or taken off of a phone. Not a fan of any UI that is so in your face - almost like iOS. I want choice. I think Android should always ship stock with the option to choose things like Sense, Motoblur, LauncherPro...

Blur
Plus = resizable widget
Minus = lag and lag
Sense
Plus =pretty(?), not much lag
Minus = slow OS update, addiction
One thing I don't get is how Sense is more comprehensive but yet cause less lag on a less advanced hardware. I personally don't like sense but it's pretty well made since Dinc's sense causes less lag than X's blur. And clearly X's hardware is more advanced.
I see your point. Yet, Eris just has "terrible" hardware as we all know.Not sure I agree with you on this. I had Sense on an Eris and it just about killed it. It was obvious that the hardware wasn't equipped to handle the OS. LauncherPro ran fine on it though. I got no lag with Sense on the Incredible. But since I don't like Sense, I ran LauncherPro on it soon after I got it and it ran very smoothly. I have a feeling that the lag on homescreens comes more from the widgets people put on them rather than the UI - at least for the Incredible and the Droid X.

Also, as you said Inc was fine (no lag) with it.
OR are you trying to say you had lag on Inc when you had bunch of widgets?
I am trying to figure out (as I have not used Inc extensively) whether it was slower with Sense or not.
Interesting thing is that I am currently running Launcher Pro yet still experience some lag. I know that Blur Social Networking is running in the background but know sure if it is using up any resource as we are knot sure if it's in a sleep mode when no blur widget is running.I don't use a lot of widgets that are calling on external services (eg social networking widgets), so I don't get much lag in any of the launchers. I had none (no lag) on the Incredible with Sense or LauncherPro. I know many people did complain of some lag with Sense and thus used LauncherPro and did not have it. I think the Sense widgets, and probably the MotoBlur widgets lag the home pages somewhat due to refresh of the data. Just a guess though. There really isn't any reason the hardware should lag at all, and I wonder if those widgets are removed if people would still experience lag. When we use widgets that require a data connection, we are at the mercy of that data connection which can slow down the performance.
