Help Searching for signal tone?

Go to Menu > Settings > Sound & Display > Ringer Volume

Uncheck "Use incoming call volume for Notifications"

Slide all the way off.

I think this works. Unfortunately I believe it will also remove the text ones and other items.

Sounds like an unacceptable solution to me...

...This must be the mysterious sound I hear on occasion for what seemed like no apparent reason...

Airplane mode will work, but is ubber inconvienient and will lead to occasionally walking around with a usless phone when one forgets to turn airplane mode off. Turning off/down notifications or has no effect. I don't know if media volume effects this as I'm using the phone as a media player and turning off the volume would be counter productive.

I agree, this is the only thing that if not figured out will have me considering the HTC Touch Pro 2 I think. IS this an annoyance on that phone?

It's a small annoyance, as opposed to Windows Mobile which is a HUGE annoyance. WM certainly gives more granular control for the OS vs Android at the cost of stability. I'll choose a little occasional boop boop noise over daily resets, lag, lock ups and the endless search for the perfect rom everyday of the week! The ONLY reasons to choose a WM device at this point are you need full (frustrating)office editing, your company is standardized on the platform and/or you need full enterprise server compliance, you like muttering "POS" under your breath all the time or you're deeply into the WM warez scene (which has all but killed the WM software business). I just saw where one company is offering the TP2 free + a $100 credit (they'll make it up in volume?) and it still isn't worth it IMHO!

TY, I will continue to work on "boop boop" removal process then ... appreciate the opinion. How about the BB Tour if I continue to fail at removal (is "boop boop" an issue on the tour?)

Seems like Notifications are all balanced via the same volume control (system signal, text alerts, roam, etc ..>) I can live without all of the system alerts but the text ones, is there an app that uses its own sounds for text alerts that doesn't abide by the Notifications volume slider? SMS Popup is working but it's volume controls follow the built in ones. Or, if we could id the name of the sound file used for the system alerts (triple tones), we could maybe put in a silent sound and see if it takes.

Having never owned one, I don't know a whole lot about BB's. It seem's to me they do a lot less than an Android/iPhone/WM phone, but what it does it does very well. I've used a friends Tour and can say that the web browsing experience is harsh compared to even mobile ie on a WM phone. I certainly wouldn't trade phones with him. He's never complained about unwanted tones when out of service. Still, BB's have the highest user approval #'s of any phone and it's hard to argue with success.

Has anyone come up with a decent fix for this yet? The signal at my house today is weak for some reason and the thing is beeping at me every two minutes. Also annoying when out and about with friends and I get that noise all the time and everyone is wondering what the hell is going on with my phone. I do not want to disable text notifications to fix this.

What is the name of the sound file it is playing? Can it not just be replaced or deleted?
