Root Is there another way to delee bloatware without rooting?

I don't know enough about how all this works to want to try rooting, but some of these stock aps are doing nothing but suck the life out of my battery. Can I do something to delete them without having to root? Thanks.

The only other alternative to rooting is using an adb shell which is far more involved and complex than installing a recovery and rooted kernel (or just the root v7). The roadblock is remounting the protected file system (more specifically the /system folder) to gain read/write access which required elevated access.

Grrr. I just wanna get those things off there! I could install the root V7, if I knew how. Honestly, I'm so new at all this that i just got to where I could install aps without a hitch. What's a lass to do? Course, I guess I should figure out if they're going to replace this moment, which is the second to keep crashing on me, before I go and root it. Hee. I'm a techy, but mostly with windows and the internet. Android is very new to me; as is the world of open-source. So please, I crave your patience.

Easiest way to do it, is check out sdx developers and flash the 2.1 de03 rom with joeys recovery on it.

This is how I got rid of Motonav. Had to root, but it was simple when I followed these instructions.

Interesting sidenote; Motonav was in my user memory (not system) for some reason.

Following those instructions (it's not hard to find Samsung Moment root instructions, and I didn't post root instructions) gives you access to ANY of the /system apps , not just MotoNav. Meaning the OP could erase the other applications without running terminals to do so. Just another option, sorry for posting something other then "durrr, do this!" without any real instruction.

I'll make sure not to make the same mistake twice.

OP requested a solution without rooting. The very first step in your instructions states "Root the Motorola Milestone"

The previous SDX suggestions would work better for OP is she wished to root.

Dude, it wasn't my intention to offend. I was pointing out that you're directions were for a device other than the device this forum is for. This is a relatively basic forum and there are some people that come here who may follow directions offered no mater how wrong they are. Wrong or confusing directions aren't any better and may be worse than no directions at all. If this was a more "expert" oriented forum like a xda or sdx, you would have taken much more abuse.

A lot of advice to sift through. Perhaps I should read up on this oporating system. I am getting a replacement device, which is supposed to actually come with 2.1 this time, so i won't have to flash. Maybe this one won't crash and I can concentrate on making the phone live up to it's potential. Thanks all of you and feel free to add more if you think of it. I'll take all the help I can get.

Just be sure to make backup's of the .apk and .odex (.odex files are ok to remove if the .apk is removed) files you remove using this list as there are one or two that caused FC errors on my phone the first time i did this. Specifically the userdictionaryprovider.apk file caused a FC for me. Its possible that it may not on your phone, so i repeat backup the files before you remove them, else you will be re-flashing anyways . The easiest way i found to backup is using the backup function in the reocvery. More specifically in this case the /system backup as the files in question in the OP are system apps which are stored in /system/app/, go figure .
