Why is the Samsung Captivate with upgrade price on AT&T's site for 500 bucks with no rebate, while it's 350 bucks at Costco at retail price and 200 bucks if you buy it with a new contract or upgrade existing contract? No reason to buy off AT&T then, right?

Must be a goof. I just checked the AT&T website and it they have the Captivate for $199-.

I think mine is early upgrade, but even for the iPhone, it's offering me 400 bucks. I only signed up with AT&T in September 2009 and that might be affecting something. It did say however that the iPhone, at least, will drop in price for me after March 2011. I mean, 500 bucks makes sense, but at Costco, it's around 340 dollars without any discount at all, so just questioning that. Oh well, I'm in India at the moment, going to be returning back to the US on the 20th so I should check up all the details with them then.

Costco will not sell you the phone without a contract or do early upgrades. I don't know why it says retail $330.

I don't think so. I was just on there and it is $500 no commitment.

It all depends on your FAN. Some FANs get a discount on the hardware and see a different no commitment price. ATT employess were seeing 199$ no commit price last week\the week before.

As far as price matching goes, you can give it a shot, but if it doesnt work, return the phone and get it at the new price.

the letstalk deal includes "
Failure to maintain the minimum qualifying service plan for 181 days may subject the purchaser to a $250 chargeback if such action results in the loss of carrier commissions by LetsTalk.com. "

not a big fan of that

I knew that, didn't care, I've been with AT&T for 10 years and the original plan needed updated anyway. I've received several phones through Lets Talk. My original plan was so old they don't have it anymore. I'm paying $2 a month more for the new plan.

Damn! It's $372.99 on the premier site no commitment and I paid the full $500 plus tax at an ATT store. Would the store price match?

I'm willing to bet they won't. For the 8+ years I've been an AT&T customer with Premier account, the AT&T store has never honored Premier pricing in store for me. I've always been told to "call Premier". I'm glad I thought to check Premier though, I was totally ready to shell out $500 + tax in store.

Got mine with an early upgrade which means you renew your two year contract to that day and got me the phone for 199.99 + 75 + 18 which came to 293. The +18 being tax i believe, great deal if you ask me. Much better than waiting until December to upgrade for me or paying the full 499.99 price plus tax.

what was the $75 for???

For the early upgrade fee. I got a backflip 4 months ago and did the same thing, paid for a new 2 year contract plus early upgrade (75$), but they didnt charge me the activation fee. So around $300, and I plan to sell my backflip and make that a little less steep.

And to the guy who paid $500, return it and buy it somewhere else for less. Tell them that it has gps problems and they wont charge you a restocking fee or anything.

ahhh gotcha.

for whatever reason, I was offered an additional $50 off when i ordered mine through AT&T's website. It was just listed as Extended Discount but im not sure why I got it. My local store wasn't even going to have them in for a week after they were released so free overnight shipping and no activation fee made ordering online a no brainer.
