Yea, I am with MPW, lol. I'd rather watch a movie on a 60 in screen in my house (if I even had one!) but that isn't practical when I am at work and not actually working. Or on a plane.
Riding the subway/train used to be such a bore unless there were hot chicks to check out. Now the time flies by when watching movies or playing games on my Captivate's beautiful screen. And when I look up to check the next stop, I often catch people looking at my phone.
My wife and I have watched a couple of movies by just propping up the phone on a blanket and keep it close. It's like watching a big HD screen, but it sits much closer. The picture is awesome.
Because a) I had a lot of time to kill sitting in a hospital waiting room and b) because being on the treadmill/eliptical is boring as .... and it makes the time go a lot faster and c) because Avatar looks amazing on it
It makes the subway commute to work go by much faster. If I lived anywhere else, I couldn't see myself watching much TV shows or movies on it, because I would be driving home. Living in NYC makes the Captivate much desirable.
I'm married. My wife likes to go to bed before me, but she likes me to go to bed with her. I stream everything to my phone using allshare and watch videos for an hour after going to bed so that the wife is happy, and i'm happy. A couple points to make on this.
1)When you are holding this phone within a foot of your face, it is essentially like looking at a huge hdtv that is on the wall across the room.
2)Unless you have a really kick ass sound system, the sound is better with nice earbuds in than on the television. I find myself thinking the sound SUCKS on my television now and I find it very difficult to watch it. I watch at least 10 times more shows on the captivate than I do on my tv...however in fairness I watch a lot more on my 22" computer monitor with hulu, than I do on the TV as well, for the same sound issues listed above.
I used to watch video on My motoQ - 2" screen. But there are many reasons - I guess imagination is not one of the OPs strong points:
1. Travel for a living and get stuck in airport for 3 hours
2. Hours on airplane, car, boat, bus, train, camel
3. No book to read
4. Get caught up on TV series (transfer from DVR)
5. No data connection so no internet surfing
Next new thread: "Why do you make phone calls on your Captivate"
I would never choose watching stuff on the Captivate over watching something on my 92" high-def projection home theater with 7.1 surround sound... but that setup can't be everywhere I am at all times, and watching a movie on my Captivate's beautiful screen beats being bored and not watching anything at all. It's just another time-killer like reading a book or checking the news.
Currently on a big trip with tons of travel time, and am passing the time by watching all 39 episodes of one TV show from my youth.
