Help Galaxy S Keyboard

Is it possible to add secondary functions onto the keyboard? I hate having to keep changing to the numbers screen just to put in 1 number. It has it on the swype keyboard but to get the spelling correction it has a huge box that comes up over the txt entry screen . I want to be able to hold down a key to get a number for the occasional number.

Search Google for the HTC keyboard. HTC_IME.apk or similar, install and use instead. It's a better keyboard, hell it's the *best* keyboard. I'd be happy to pay for it but that is not an option at the moment.

Thanks Yakboy exactly what I was hoping for. I loved the HTC Keyboard on my Hero. Now I have it on my Galaxy S.

Swiftkey is nice too. Just search for that in the market.

tried the swiftkey one but didn't like it as much. The keys were too small and the lettering was too light.

Errr.... I can do that in the default keyboard. If I hold a letter down I get a number....

I asked this question the other day on this thread, the message appeared and now it's disappeared! Anyway, i'll ask it again.

How do you enlarge the HTC keyboard? It's width only stretches to two-thirds of the screen. Its too small for me as I imagine it is for many other people. How can I get the keyboard to use the full width of the screen?

How do you mean two thirds of the screen? Mine goes from one edge to the other in either landscape or portrait mode.

Mine only goes two-thirds of the way across the screen, in landscape and portrait. Whats happening here!?

Are you sure you downloaded the right one? the high resolution one? and install both apk's

Some personal comments:
I love this keyboard in landscape mode.
But in "non-landscape" mode, the keys are much smaller than the stock keyboard, and much more difficult to use for me.
Maybe I have big fingers
