Wired tether for ps3?

I just signed up for the hotspot because it is no longer free, unfortunately. I have been running my ps3 wirelessly on 4g, but it is not that great of a connection. I was wondering if it is possible to tether the ps3 with the usb port?

It's easy to tether the PS3 with an ethernet cord. I suspect that with some adapter or configuration, you could use a USB cord to get the job done. I use my 4G connection to stream Netflix via my Netflix-enabled Blu Ray player. It's not too tricky to set up.

Go to Radio Shack and get a cross-over ethernet cable.

Set up Hotspot connection between your phone and your computer.

Make sure PS3 is OFF.

Connect computer and PS3 with cross-over ethernet cable.
(This will turn your computer into a router)

On your computer, go to internet connections, under properties of your 4G connection, allow internet sharing.

Power on the PS3.

Watch your computer monitor for firewall & anti-virus permission requests and allow all.

Some firewall and anti-virus programs don't play well at this game, AVG, for example.

Root ur phone and it will b free again.

I wouldnt suggest the evo be your ps3 gateway tho, the lag you would get will be through the roof. Ping would kill any fun you should be having. Unless Im missing something...

yep, tethering the ps3 will work for some games, but for any Action or fast paced games, the lag of wireless networks will make it unplayable. I have answered at least 4 posts in the last two weeks with this same exact question. Tethering works fine for internet use because you dont notice the lag connecting to ONE website. But when you play online gaming, you are constantly pinging and sending data to MULTIPLE players, and with a lag of 100ms compared to a cable modem that has a lag of 5ms, it makes a big difference.

Yes, I agree, the lag from gaming is horrible, it is possible to play, but not very fun. I use the connection mainly for browsing the net. But all this has been done in the past wirelessly. And sometimes my connection drops. I was hoping with a wired tether I could elimante this problem, and maybe pick up a little more speed?...
