So i wanna know is the evo actually worth it?

Is it worth paying the $200 and $10 extra monthly?

so with the epic being announced for the 31st should i wait on it or do you think i should try and get an evo thats if i can find one...

i would also like to know about the whole pri thing going around like some people have 1.40 or something like that...cause i will probably end up rooting so i want to know whats going on...and about the 30fps cap can that be changed?

and hows the screen i have heard people say that its not the best and i have only used the evo handful of times...

also hows the keyboard with the 4.3 inch screen im coming from the hero which is a little cramped...

and lastly hows 2.2 on it...

sorry if this has been posted i just dont want to use my upgrade on something i wont want after the 30 day period..

The phone is a best it self .. Take opinions but is up to you .. If you play with it before and you liked then thats your answer right there .. I had the Hero since it came out and let me tell you its a big difference even typing .. No lag and 2.2 is nice especially being able to watch flash videos etc. Just get it if you like it . If not just wait for a better phone in your opinion for when is out in the future .

Im sure the Epic will be great and its specs on paper are impressive. You can check the Vibrant forums for a good idea on what the Epics performance will be (as well as its faults) as they are both galaxy phones.

I for one could never give up the evo screen size, and its screen is very good. Keyboard is great because of the large screen, much easier than the hero (I have two of those) 2.2 is a blast with few drawbacks that we expect will be addressed, hopefully soon. The experience is nothing like the unrooted 2.1 on the hero. Best I can compare is going from a pinto to a ferrari.

No idea about the PRI or how that would affect you rooting.

30fps cap is lifted with root, though last I checked breaks hdmi. There is a huge debate on how that actually affects user experience, probably mostly affecting gaming. I was one of those who really believed the cap created problems with other aspects such as scrollling and a few other things, however Im not so sure thats the reason anymore. I can tell you that after the update to 2.2 games (the few I looked into) do run quite a bit smoother and are way more than acceptable. Movies on this phone are absolutley awesome

Since you likely wont be able to find an Evo right now anyway, you might as well wait till the Epic comes out and play with both. Who knows, you might find that samoled screen's features more enticing than the evo's size. The rest of the features seem to be pretty comparable, though theoretically the Epic should edge out in performance. No way to know till its out though. Happy hunting

1) How does anyone here know how the Epic is going to be? I honestly don't know if it is worth the wait...

2) What does one phone does the other can't? That really will be the deciding factor... This means keyboard...

3) If you're rich enough, get both...

4) The EVO isn't perfect, but if you ask me is it worth the $200 for "me" then yes... I wish it can do a lot more, but that's like saying my $200 should buy me everything...

5) Wait... Cause something better always comes along... Wait until you can't wait anymore...

6) Cause that's what comes after 5...

its a 2 year i guess cause they said i would get it for 200 if i were to buy.

Since its a two year.. you might have a chance of getting it a few weeks early. They want to renew contracts. I got my one year ugrade a week or so early. :) although i think i was pretty lucky since it was the 1 year and not the 2, like you. I depends on who ya talk to I think. The guy at bestbuy called Sprint and asked for me.. and they said Sure! :)

Put simply, this phone exceeded my expectations. Before the Evo, I was of the mindset that all these touchscreen phones were all iPhone wannabes. But I got the evo since it was the nicest phone sprint had, and I like the company (been with them since 1999). After a day of using it, I realized that it was far from a cheap iPhone knockoff and gained a new appreciation for Android.

Since then, I've researched Android and the Evo quite thoroughly and am constantly amazed at how powerful this "phone" really is.

1.. you are asking in an evo forum.. not if it is better than anything else or why you need it... what do you think the answer will be?

2... you know you best.. reading reviews .. and then jump in or out...

3.. it is cheaper than most other plans. more reliable in MOST areas. ask friends that have sprint in your area.. what it is like.

4.. because it comes after 3
