After many weeks of waiting and my fiasco almost switching to an Incredible, my X finally arrived today. I'm new to the forum but have been reading around since ordering my phone. I don't intend to root at the moment because it's not what i need and I want to see how I like froyo.

I will be using launcher pro but I really want these, or similar, dock icons but can't seem to locate them.

I don't need to root or anything to get the completely transparent dock background do I?

And for those with macs, what do you feel that the best way to move things between your phone and mac are? I plan on using doubletwist unless someone can mention something they feel is better!

no root required for custom dock backgrounds (see here: LauncherPro Forum • View topic - Share your custom dock backgrounds!), if u want a black status bar and notification tray u will need root. to be honest, if there is anything that u want that requires root, i'd suggest u download a 1-click root app such as easyroot or universal androot. it's really dummy proof. and i've seen those icons in a theme located here: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid-x/147281-theme-revolution-v1-1-droid-x.html

You can download the icons in the docks here:
Manup\'s Simple Word Icons_Clean_164SET.zip

I use these when it is not football season

thank you! i have launcher pro installed, got those icons to work to way I wanted, and am loving the phone so far, but now I have a new problem.

I was intending to use doubletwist to sync music to my phone but right now when I plug in the x not is it not recognized by my computer, but the x doesn't even show the usb connected option in my tray to switch it to mass storage. is there any other way to set it to mass storage?

This happens on macs for some reason. Try this:

Plug it in, set it to "charge only" (your DX should beep and say Mounting SD Card or something like that) then switch back to "USB mass storage". It should then be recognized in Finder
