PSX4Droid Incredible Thread.

Other forums have a thread dedicated to PSX4Droid and how well the app along with the roms work on their respected phone.

This thread is not so much a "How to" but a "What works"

For those just getting started and need to learn how to set up PSX4Droid take a look at a few of the videos on YouTube to help get going.

Now for anyone who has PSX4Droid on the Incredible could you please post what roms/games you have tried and how well they work on the system.

This will help people from putting a certain amount of hours of playtime into a title only to find there is a section they won't be able to advance from.

Games I have tried so far:

Dino Crisis: This one starts off fine but about 30 minutes into playing there is a door you have to go through and the new section won't load basically ending the game.

Dino Crisis 2: Runs fine for the first 5-10 minutes but afraid of the same problems coming up from Dino Crysis 1.

Resident Evil: Only played for 30 minutes but runs fins, also has sound issues.

Resident Evil 2: Played for 1 hour and runs GREAT, has some sound problems.

Resident Evil 3: Same as RE2, played for 1 hour game runs great but has some sound issues.

Diablo: This is a tricky one. Game starts and plays fine in the first town but after talking to everyone there is and entering the church the performance drops off. Now I have restarted this one and took my character directly into the church bypassing talking or doing anything in town and didn't have a problem so this might have a memory issue.

So far from the limited titles I played the RE series works out the best. It should be noted that every game I tried out has some sound issues you just have to live with for now.

For anyone else with the emulator please post your experience below.

I have had all of the FF series going so far. Laggy map screen in FF8 though. Other than that 7 and 8 play perfectly. 9 has no sound during cut scenes, and some sound issues throughout the game (you can live with it though)

A lot of really random slow-downs, probably due to apps in the background. I turned off data and ended any non-critical apps, and it sped up a lot. The only place I have had issues is the jump roping with Vivi, lol..

Other than that, it runs great. Set Screen sizing to 2X (NOT scaled)
Set orientation to landscape by default, too, and disable using the trackball as d-pad.

Oh, and screen refresh rate at 40 works best for me.

Necosino just a heads up someone else said that you will have trouble advancing past a submarine part of Final Fantasy so just watch out.

I think that was for FF7.

Close. It's the blimp in FF9. It freezes after the cutscene..

Solution: Make a save state before the cut scene. Transfer to PC, play through the cutscene to disk 2, load disk 2, save, move back to Incredible and resume play :D

FF7 works perfect so far (just played the first part)

Crash bandicoot is a little slow but very playable and fun game to show of on the phone.

Gran turismo 2 is too slow, playable only if you have a lot of time and patience (it's about half or less the speed).

Does anyone know if there's an update yet or if one is coming out?

How are the controls on this emu? do we have proper multi touch with this?

Yes and works better than you would probably expect. Still, a keyboard version of Inc would be better.

My old and purchased PSX collection has new life on the road. The following play good with sound- just to name a few:

1. Raiden 2
2. Crash Racing
3. Almost all 2D fighters
4. Need for Speed 3
5. Einhander
6. NFL Blitz 2001
7. Nascar Rumble
8. Hotshots Golf 1&2

Ok I am having a big problem here.

I am halfway through the first Resident Evil and in the room where you have to move two statues over vents than step on a middle switch releasing gas into the room with all the knights, your character can't step on the switch, nothing happens and you cant progress any further in the game. :(

EDIT: Disregard User Error. Turns out you actually have to press the switch instead of stepping on it...Go figure.

This might be a problem for all the Resident Evils.

Whenever you run into this type of situation on any ROM, just make a save state, and then move the 2 files from the .psx4droid folder to your PC's save state folder. Run ePSXe or another similar emulator, load up the same game and load the state. Play through where you are having issues, and then save state and reverse the process back to your phone. :)
