I hope it's ok to post this mods, if not feel free to delete this thread! Anyway I have just opened up a Facebook Group so that the developer behind the official iPhone version of Facebook (which to be honest if you've tried it is almost perfect) to make a port for Android!

Please Joe Hewitt make the Official Facebook Android App

None of the Android versions are that good to be honest and as far as I've noticed offer push notifications? Even the WebOS version of Facebook is better!

Thanks!

It could be worth you posting it in the Apps Section, or perhaps request a mod move it there for you. :)

Fine, can we get the Blackberry guy then?

Debating whether to move this to Android Apps forum or not. Probably.
i think the blackberry one is crap too lol

thing we have to rememebr is the official FB app for android was actually unofficial for ages but facebook game him permission to name it after them. once it grew they decided to take it on.

we need someone like the author of Touiteur (level up)
to make something as they "know" how to plugin to API's correctly and give a nice finish

Why do people feel the need to tell their friends where they are on facebook. It's turning into stalkbook. I hope ur poor house doesn't get robbed when thieves know ur in ur local pub for the night. Bit extreme - yes... but it gets the point i'm makeing over to you

Well.check your privacy settings and don't accept friend requests from robbers

I wouldn't mind having a slightly better Facebook app but the standard one is mostly sufficient except it refuses to open Youtube links posted for some reason? Also, it would be good if you had more options for listing friends and stuff.

It's absolutely horrendous, just look at the things mentioned in this thread. Can't tag photos, Youtube links don't work, can't remove a status and the notifications are terrible (always late/erroring/not arriving at all). On top of that a lot of actions just take you to the mobile site, how lazy is that? There's basically a lot of stuff missing and the stuff that is there doesn't always work.

To be fair he said the TOOLS were Garbage (referring to the Eclipse IDE) and that Android was ugly, but that technically it was a good OS. I just think he dislikes Java.

Yeah, sadly the Facebook Android app is crap compared to its iPhone counterpart. I mean hell, notifications open in a separate browser, not the app itself, and then load the mobile web version of Facebook once you click upon a notification? What kind of convoluted crap is that? I honestly never use the FB app now, but the widget for LauncherPro Plus, which is muuuuuuuuuch better.

Me too, between that and email notifications I've pretty much got a workable solution.
