Androot - Has anyone used this?

I just read about some app called Androot (note that I believe this is different from "Universal Androot"). It was on Toms Hardware and there wasn't much information about it. I decided to ask my blog readers about it here.

Has anyone used this? It looks fishy to me, but maybe it's legit?

Was just curious because this would be much easier than doing it the old fashioned way like I'm used to.

Also, does anyone know if it's a true root, or something that needs to be done with each reboot?

Dont do one click roots. Its always better to do the root process yourself.

What's wrong with one-click root methods? I'm on my 2nd Captivate and rooted both devices this way with no problems.

Just curious to know in case there's something these one-click root methods do to damage the device or leave you susceptible to other problems down the road.

Androot works with some devices, not all of them. I tested it out on both the Motorola Charm and LG Shine Plus (same as LG Ally), and worked like a charm, once you get superuser installed you can remove universal androot but you'll also have to download busybox from the market to install that to do further root based stuff. Then you can unroot with Androot later (for warranty purposes or such).

One-click root methods, while nice, cause nothing but confusion if something goes wrong.

The rooting process for some phones are pretty extensive now and with one-click root apps, all of the important bits are going on behind the scenes.

Unless the app doing the rooting process is robust enough to return detailed information about errors and has a 100% failsafe rollback process, I personally would never use a one-click method for rooting.

Process to root:
Read.
Read some more.
Prepare your files.
Read through the process again.
Execute the steps slowly and carefully, taking note that each step returns exactly what you expect.

Universal androot has rooted a couple of phones with no issues.

I have used androot on my x10, x10 mini and mini pro without problems so i have no problem to say ok for it.....


and i mean you can see the support device on they homepage

Just giving my opinion. Would you not agree that unrevoked is the best option?
