Help is it my phone or is touchwiz way smoother than launcherpro?

Launcherpro Plus seems to be laggy at times especially when pressing the home button while you're in a program e.g. Angry Birds. With touchwiz, this lag is completely gone, making the experience much better. With Launcherpro Plus, I'd have to wait a couple of seconds for the home screen to pop up.

Is this just my phone, or is the lag a price you have to pay for an awesome launcher?

I agree tw sucks. I tried it a while back on my moment and just didn't understand what the big deal was. I played with it for a few minutes on my wife's epic and decided to load lp for her to get her used to it from the beginning. I let her try out tw last night for about 20 seconds and she made me put lp back as default. The phone is fast enough as it is with lp. The lag doesn't bother me.

You also have to remember that since TW is included within the phone OS it really will work less hard. I have found that keeping LPP in memory as well as changing the home cache to compressed and memory setting to light works well to keep the LPP running quickly. I wouldn't use any other launcher myself currently.

care to explain how to do that?

I have LPP but LP should hopefully be the same.

Menu>Preferences>Advanced Setting>Memory Usage Settings>Memory Usage Preset>Light (I simply use this on my moment. waiting for my Epic to come arrive so it may be different since the Epic can handle more)

Menu>Preferences>Advanced Setting>Memory Usage Settings>Use Homescreen Caches is checked and Homescreen cache type is compressed.

Again play with these settings and and find one you like.

To keep LPP in memory go to Menu>Preferences>General Settings>check keep in memory.

I found this especially useful when I had apps2sd running on the moment prior to DJ07 update. I am waiting on a kernel compatible with DJ07 that supports apps2sd properly now but that was an even larger improvement which with apps2sd coming in 2.2 I am sure it will only get better.

Hope this helps some!

I went moderate instead of light, noticed that my clock widget turned hideous when scrolling screens on light settings, im sure the Epic can handle moderate. Ive uninstalled LP about 3 times now because of the lag, each time going back to vanilla (never touchwiz). but time and time again i miss having it. this last time I just got rid of the live wallpaper and click on the ATK widget whenever lag becomes noticeable. also unchecked "high quality scrolling" in the advanced settings. im hoping your settings will help out. if it runs better on 2.2, im buying the full version since lag is the only drawback i can find
