Here is a review about my droid X that I wrote this morning

Droid X Review

I have had my Droid X for about a month now and would like to share a few likes dislikes etc.

Camera
The Camera on the phone is 8.0 MP and is great at taking both Pictures and Video.
I have made a few videos of my autocrossing in My Mazda RX8 which are on Youtube my driving is not great but the video quality is better then most peoples video cameras so that is a massive plus. I have not been able to turn off the flash on the camera though which is a pain.

Battery
The Android has a super smart way of ensuring efficient batter life. Only problem is when the phone is new it wont last a day after a full charge. Over time the battery life improves and it will now last about 2 days.

SatNav
Free Satnav with both Google Maps and VZ Navigator both are great. But I usually use Google Maps. I had a Satnav in the UK what cost me 300 pound (about $450) and this is just as good. I have the dock so my Smartphone charges at the same time and is held securely in place on my Windscreen. Problems with the Satnav are it kill the phone battery quick so remember to turn it off when you get to your destination.

Social Media
There is an app available for everything I need Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Mysapce, Picasa Skype, and much more. Lots of great widgets that give you an update on what is going on, I have the calendar on my home page to make sure I don't miss important meetings.

Email
If you are a Google Apps or Gmail user then everything is so easy on your phone you just sign in and within a couple of minutes everything is synced up. Giving you have access to your contacts, calendars, email and more. To date I have not had a single issue with the Droid X. Previously I had the BlackBerry Curve and had lots of Syncing Issues but the Android just works.

Summary
The phone itself looks good and fits nicely in your pocket beside you wallet but make sure you lock the screen first or it has a habit of sending Texts or calling random people off Facebook.
Overall I would recommend this phone to anyone.

What is he "sup smart way of saving battery life"? I hadn't heard of this.
I'll have to look up where I found the info about the battery and give you an update. Basically over time the batter life increases. I looked it up after owning the phone for a couple days because the phone would not last a day which is quite frustrating but when I looked it up was informed that it will get better and now it will last about 2 days

My x still only lasts 8 hrs without charging and all i do is txt and some phone calls and a couple of apps running
If all you "really" do is a few phone calls and texts, than that is not normal. Mine will last a good 40+ hours with that sort of light usage, and that's on a standard battery.

However, go into settings>battery manager and check statistics. If the display is the first thing listed and around 40-60% of usage, then you are not a light user. With the screen on all that time, battery will only drain. If not, then try to get a replacement battery, as something is wrong.

Personally, I don't think the battery (ever standard) is an issue for most. It should last a good day, even with moderate use. But if you are playing music while web browsing and watching movies, then obviously you're not going to get a whole day. But you'll get longer than most other smartphones out there.

I am a moderate user and have tweet deck going all day along with around 50 texts a day a phone call here and there, a little web surfing and messing with some apps and at the end of a work day (10 hours total time) I around 60% left. The worst day I have had I was at 50% remaining.

Do you have some app, or widget running in the background all day, or do you have bluetooth on all day?

hmm...today i was on the phone alot 57% display 23% all the rest were only 2% i don't use bluetooth and i don't let programs run in the background (like tweetdeck) only cause it will only drain it faster. The only programs that is taking up the most memory seems to be yahoo mail. The battery life did seem to get better as the weeks have passed...but i really can't get past the 8 -9 hr threshold without charging.

If you go to settings...battery manager, there is a battery mode option that allows you to customize the data operations of the phone. This matters a lot, especially if you are in a weak signal area. Presently, I am using a custom mode whereby the phone goes 'off-peak' at 10p and doesn't 'awaken' until 6a. However, if I use the phone at all during that time, the data reactivates and doesn't turn off for 30 mins. Pretty cool. I'm getting between 24-36 hours in between charges now.

I dont know why I never thought of doing this...

I was using Airplane Mode at work since its very bad reception in my building and that area is a bad reception area in general. I stopped a few months ago and just keep my phone above my desk. Under my desk not on the charger it will die in 8 hours or less. (I have to keep my phone outta sight, not allowed in my office.)
