Help Can't change notification sound

Where are you doing the notification sound setting change? The one in sounds and display is the default setting I believe. I just figured out how to change the notification sound for texts by pressing the "messages" icon on my home screen then menu -settings.

In that same menu it allows you to change the notification sound for voice mail. I keep trying to set it, but it only plays the default sound although it keeps the sound that I changed it to in that menu.

Any ideas? I just wanted to have different notification sounds for email, texts and voice mails.

Kinda odd that it reverts. Should be able to drill into the messaging options and select a notifier and then you can use the default notification in the main settings for emails.

I haven't done it that way in a long time however. I use SMS Popup which has independent notification settings. Then you can set the default notification to whatever you want for emails or if you use a non HTC email program like K9 mail, that app will most likely have it's own notification settings. Similarly, I use Google Voice for voicemail and once again, it has it's setting for voicemail notifications.

So you SHOULD be able to do it with the onboard HTC settings but many people end up using 3rd party apps that take over the job of notifying. That said, often times when you enable notifications on a 3rd party app, you need to DISABLE the default notifications so you don't end up getting multiple notifications for the same event.

I can't change my text notification sounds. If I change my sounds it only works on emails, not text. Any ideas?
Try downloading Zedge from the Marketplace and when prompted to select which application to use to manage the notification sounds, use Zedge instead of the default HTC application. This is how I do it as well as many of my co-workers and it works perfectly.

I'm having troubles with this as well......

I can't get my voicemail notification to stay changed from the default!!!!!

I went into the vm settings and changed it but when I called myself it played the default notification sound.....

Is there a way to have different notification sounds for vm, text, email without using a 3rd party app????????

Please help

What I ended up doing was setting the default notification sound for what I wanted for Voicemail. Then change the sounds for text and email to what I wanted them to be. So now I have 3 different sounds for those 3 different functions.

I shouldnt have to do it this way, but I guess it will work until they send out a fix. I hope enough people have complained to HTC so they at least know about the problem.

I was able to fix mine by doing the same thing as SCARLET nGREY: Setting the default notification sound (menu/settings/sound/Notification Sound) for what I wanted for Voicemail. Then change the sounds for text and email to what I wanted them to be. So now I have 3 different sounds for those 3 different functions. I think the root cause was not having a default sound selected at all, at least for my case.
