It just means that there's Gingerbread features in here.....not necessarily the entire build itself. It has Gingerbread theme, and the keyboard....for now.....

Looks real nice. Very smooth and the Gingerbread keyboard is nice (although "&" key shows as "&amp", but that is not any fault of the ROM). The Red Battery that the nightly flashers spoke of is there. Phone slider matches that of the lockscreen and is no longer off center.

Lockscreen enhancements (phone and messaging available on rotary, centering clock) are good EXCEPT the setting where you can disable the slide if you activate menu key or gestures. I did this and couldn't get the lockscreen to come back fully (only saw status bar) and then was not able to use gesture or menu key to get into the phone. Had to nandroid restore and re-do the 2.4 flash. For all I know, I may have been too aggressive in playing with the settings, but I am not touching that one again Oh and the bad penny UD banner is back again, but I know how to take care of that.

I immediately flashed my Chevy LV1.0, cuz that one has always made my Droid happy. We'll see how well the battery reacts, 2.3 had no complaints in this area.

When I open my main screen before unlocking it reads "emergency calls only". Anybody have any idea of what that means?

EDit: Seems to be a glitch in the rom, others are reporting it on the UD forum.

So I wiped and installed (coming from 2.1) and there's no Gmail app. That's nice. Looks like I'll restore and try flashing without wiping.

In the notification bar, is there a way to set the widgets that are shown? I'd like to remove the sound option and put airplane mode in its place.

Well, without wiping, everything went fine. Stock kernel is nice and fast. I still can't find how to get the new keyboard. The "stock" Android keyboard is the same as the modded kb from 2.1. Anyone else noticing this?
Also, in settings, it says Ultimate Droid 2.3, but when I hit for the changelog, it says UD 2.4. hmm

This is not the same red battery. The other one laid down sideways. I liked it better. Matters not, I themed mine to my liking in a couple minutes after flashing.

Wasn't the other one hard to read (little line segments, or am I getting it mixed up with another rom)? I think the red/white/black makes it the easiest to see battery icon I have come across.

EDIT: so far so good...i loaded chevyno1 1.1 kernel...and my D1 was rebooting itself after a couple of minutes of being on. so i flashed slayherv1.6 @ 1.1...so far so good. ROM seems quick...I LOVE UD!!!!

Have you tried the mirror posted in the OP? Worked for me, didn't have to get into BD's website.

I honestly don't understand why anyone flashes a different kernel. I have ZERO lag ... ZERO! The only thing a faster clocked kernel would do for me is consume battery. There was a time when I was running my DROID at 1.3GHz. But these UD ROMs simply don't need to be that over-clocked. 800Mhz is all I need.

To each his/her own. Just sayin'...
